Helping Louisville Voters Make Informed Choices: A Community Guide to Candidate Responses
Every election season brings new voices, new ideas, and new opportunities for our community to shape the future of Louisville. But with so many candidates and so much information circulating, it can be difficult for voters to sort through what matters most. That’s why the NAACP Louisville Branch created this voter education resource—a clear, accessible tool designed to help residents understand who is running, what they stand for, and how their decisions could impact our city.
This document (Download Here), developed in partnership with the Education Committee and the Voter Registration Committee, compiles direct responses from candidates across multiple races, including Metro Council, U.S. Senate, Jefferson County Clerk, and the Louisville Mayor’s race. Our goal is simple: make it easier for voters to hear directly from the people seeking to represent them.
Why This Document Matters
1. Candidates Speak in Their Own Words
Each candidate received the same set of questions focused on issues that matter to Louisville residents—public safety, mask bans, education partnerships, the DOJ Consent Decree, and youth engagement. Their responses are presented exactly as submitted, giving voters an unfiltered look at their priorities, values, and leadership style.
2. Easy Side‑by‑Side Comparison
Because all candidates were asked identical questions, voters can quickly compare how each person approaches the same topics. This format helps highlight differences in experience, tone, and vision—without commentary or interpretation.
3. Transparency About Who Responded
The document clearly notes when a candidate did not submit responses. This helps voters understand who chose to engage with the community and who did not, offering additional insight into each candidate’s level of accessibility and responsiveness.
4. A Tool for Community Conversations
Whether you’re discussing the election at home, in your neighborhood association, or with coworkers, this resource provides a shared foundation of facts. It’s designed to be downloaded, shared, and used as a conversation starter across Louisville.
5. Empowering Voters With Clear Information
Our mission is to ensure every voter—regardless of background, internet access, or campaign exposure—has the information they need to make confident, informed decisions at the ballot box. This document supports that mission by bringing clarity, accessibility, and fairness to the forefront.
Why the NAACP Louisville Branch Created This Resource
The NAACP Louisville Branch is committed to strengthening civic engagement and ensuring that every resident has the tools they need to participate fully in our democracy. This document reflects that commitment by:
Promoting voter education and awareness
