The NAACP Louisville Branch joins the community and nation in mourning the passing of Jesse Jackson, Sr.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JESSE JACKSON, SR.

The NAACP Louisville Branch joins the community and nation in mourning the passing of a towering figure in the struggle for justice, the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. For more than five decades, Rev. Jackson stood as a fearless advocate for those whose voices too often went unheard, dedicating his life to expanding opportunity, dignity, and hope.

From marching alongside Martin Luther King Jr. to challenging the nation to “keep hope alive,” his leadership helped shape generations of organizers and community servants. His work reminds us that progress requires courage, persistence, and an unshakable belief in our collective power.

As Louisville reflects on his legacy, we extend our deepest condolences to Rev. Jackson’s family and loved ones. We honor his life not only with words but with a renewed commitment to continue the work—building stronger communities, defending civil rights, and advancing justice for all.
